Every year we get dozens of kittens dropped off at the facility from well-meaning people who think they've been abandoned. In some instances, this may be true, but in many instances, the mother cat is simply out hunting for food. Unfortunately, when babies come into the facility at a young age, they need to be fed around the clock. If there are no fosters available, the babies are often euthanized. Therefore, it's important to be REALLY sure kittens have been abandoned before moving them. It's much better to "rescue" them when they're ready to wean, which is at about 4-5 weeks old.
