Mia came to Friendswood Animal Control in June 2017. She and her two newborn kittens were trapped by a resident, then transported to the facility where she gave birth to a third. Although she wasn't aggressive, she was terrified of people and cages and unable to be handled.
After 5 weeks, when her kittens were completely weaned, she was going to be euthanized; however, I couldn't let her go. I brought her home and started working with her, slowly gaining her trust. It took a couple of months, but she eventually came out of her shell.
Now, Mia is a sweet and loving pet who sleeps on my bed every night, meows at my feet when I'm on the computer, and cuddles with my cat after they're done playing.
However, her fear of cages means she doesn't show well at the facility. She hides in the back and is very reluctant to come out and be held. Mia needs an adopter who understands that her shyness in the cage is not indicative of her behavior in a home. If given the chance, I know Mia would make an excellent addition to any family.
