Have you ever considered adopting a senior pet?
Playful puppies and cuddly kittens are usually the first ones to be adopted in shelters, but what about senior pets? The sad truth is in most facilities, senior pets are the last to be adopted, if they're adopted at all. The ASPCA reports that senior dogs have a 25% adoption rate, compared to the 60% adoption rate of younger dogs and puppies and the stats for cats are even worse.
In this episode, host Amy Castro explores the world of senior dog rescue and adoption with Sherri Franklin, president and CEO of Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco. Muttville was the first senior dog rescue in the US and has saved the lives of almost 11,000 senior dogs since it began in 2007.
